No matter how good you are at managing your leads manually your sales team needs to have an organized system to receive, track and respond to leads.

1. A good lead management system is going to allow you to send leads in real time to your sales team and this is done automatically. You can spend time doing other things like finding ways to increase revenues.

2. You are able to see how fast and how well your costly sales leads are being worked by your sales team. No more “I am working the leads they are just no good”.

3. You are able to hold your lead providers accountable for low closing ratios and of course praise the ones that are doing good.

4.  Increase in contact and closing ratio. The faster you get your leads to your sales team the higher your contact ratio will be, this results in more closings.

5.  Reporting - Reporting - Reporting. Stop guessing at how good your leads are performing and know the facts.

Nice post. Sales lead management is one of the key foundations of good sales. Once you have the sales lead management tool that you need, you should learn how to use it in order to follow up clients quickly.

We actually just posted an article about contact time on blog.clickpointsoftware.com It’s essential for lead buyers to understand what it takes to close deals with both online and offline leads. I know more companies are taking lead management seriously these days but what I see the most that these guys need is simply education. Most companies dont take the time to understand the system they just purchased. They think the software will do everything for them without really understanding the sales workflow, the reporting, and all the tools that are available to them.

So my advice is simple:
1. Find a lead management company that has great technical support. You will need it.

2. Find a lead management company that integrates everything including: Direct Mail, Live Call Transfers, Internet Leads, and more… You will want both online and offline in one system.

3. Don’t buy anything you arent prepared to thoroughly understand. This is like buying a new TV and not knowing how to work the remote. READ THE MANUAL!

4. Have a lead management provider that can identify strong lead sources and strong leads. Simple.
